Our Carers
Many of our carers have had personal experiences of caring for a loved one. In fact, some have even decided to work with us after seeing the care we offered when their loved one needed it. Read on to find out a bit more about our carers.
Melanie Caudwell – Senior Carer
The daughter of an existing client of Care in Hand, Melanie joined the company almost three years ago after seeing first-hand the level of care and support provided for her mother.Mel has now completed a level 2 and 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care, and is currently working towards a qualification in team leading. Jan Overhill – Live in Support Worker
Starting his career in health and fitness, Jan has shifted his work focus towards supporting people through the health and social care sector. He started working in the sector in July 2011 on joining Care in Hand. As a live in support worker for one of our youngest clients - Paul (diagnosed with Huntingdon’s Disease) - Jan has offered Paul support while also recognising the need to let his client live his life as independently as possible. Charlotte Evenden - Carer
Charlotte is one of our newest/youngest care workers. Having spent some time looking after her grandfather with day to day tasks around the home, Charlotte decided to change her career from business to social care. With a NVQ in Business Administration under her belt, she joined Care in Hand in February 2010 and has continued to mix study with work. She now holds a NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. Hayley Chinsammy – Carer
With a background in IT and web consultancy, Hayley joined Care in Hand a year ago, taking on a complete change of career. One of many of our local recruits, she has now completed her NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and is always eager to work towards furthering her knowledge with new training opportunities. Helen Lewis – Skilled Senior Carer
After caring for her grandmother who was suffering from Dementia single-handedly for several years, Helen realised that a career in the health and social care sector was for her. Being able to help others like her grandmother, who may risk losing their independence as they progressed into old age, was important to her. Since joining Care in Hand five years ago, Helen has progressed from a Community Carer to a Senior Carer and is also the on-call support worker for all carers working with us.
